Wollongong and Illawarra

Take your conference delegates just an hour south of Sydney and get a whole new perspective on the Illawarra region, which covers Wollongong, Shellharbour and Kiama. It’s an easy drive there via the Grand Pacific Drive, a spectacular 140km coastal road that follows a ribbon of beautiful beaches and spectacular views.

The Illawarra as a whole is made for outdoor adventures. The small coastal villages around Wollongong boast excellent surfing beaches, and Lake Illawarra offers a choice of sailing, waterskiing, canoeing and fishing.

The area is also shaping up as a fine food and wine destination, with talented chefs serving great local produce and premium wines. Wollongong, the state’s third largest city, has in recent years re-invented itself as a great conference destination while the smaller towns of Kiama and Gerringong also offer boutique accommodation and first-class meeting facilities.
