Country NSW

Stretching across several major inland centres, Country New South Wales (NSW) is steeped in pioneering history. The area encompasses the Upper Hunter region, New England to the north-west, south to Capital Country and across the Great Dividing Range.

Some of Australia’s most historic towns are found in Country NSW. These quintessentially Australian settlements were founded by gold miners, graziers and farmers and are loved by visitors today for their old-world ambience and friendly welcomes.

When you take your conference to Country NSW you can slow down and take the time to explore your surroundings – wide open spaces, locally grown produce and wines recognised as some of the world’s best.

Be prepared for some unexpected sights: a giant radio telescope at Parkes; fields of sunflowers surrounded by cotton and wheat fields; wartime history at Cowra and the main street of Gulgong, which is home to 130 National Trust buildings.

Getting there

There are several ways to travel to Country NSW. Many areas are a two to four hour drive from Sydney. Country Link operates a train and coach network to over 300 destinations and most of the larger regional centres are also well serviced by air.
