"I was born in the United Kingdom and spent my childhood travelling between boarding school in the UK and the family home in Antwerp, Belgium. As a result I was an experienced traveller at an early age!

"I attended the University of Antwerp studying General and Legal Studies but after a year I decided it was time to return to London. I continued my studies at St James College focusing on developing my accounting and secretarial skills. I wasn’t sure which career path to pursue but thought these skills would be useful in most occupations. It also helped that I enjoyed maths, accounting and english.

"London proved to be the opening of a new world for me - I met my future husband, an Australian, there and we eventually re-located to Sydney.

"I didn’t choose events it chose me! When I arrived in Australia I started working for Australian Motel Industries. Newly armed with ‘tourism experience’ I then secured a position with Sheraton Worldwide Reservations and have worked in the industry ever since, including American Airlines and Destination Marketing Services.

"I joined Business Events Sydney (BESydney) in 2000 to help with Sydney on Sale (which is now Australian Events Expo). I’ve seen many changes over the years.

"I am very family orientated; I have two grown-up daughters and recently became a grandmother. Successfully finding a balance between my work and family commitments has always been my priority. This has meant that my career has been varied but I believe this has made me a more experienced and valuable employee.

"I relax by spending time with friends and family, especially with my granddaughter. I enjoy gardening, long weekends away, reading, and most of all doing absolutely nothing!

"And of course, coming from the UK, I like to make the most of the lovely Sydney weather. On a beautifully warm evening our harbour is breathtaking!"
