Business Development Manager, Asia

"I was born and raised in China. I chose to study travel, tourism and hospitality because in the 1980s it was an exciting new concept, especially in China. I am now based in Sydney and have been living and working here since 1993.

"Before I came to Business Events Sydney (BESydney) in early 2007 I was the Manager of Operations and Products at PTC Express Travel. I enjoyed this but felt it was time for a change of scenery. I was offered the position at BESydney and was very pleased to join such a dynamic team. I am lucky that I get to work closely with both the Sydney office and the Asian office.

"As Business Development Manager for Asia, my role at BESydney is to help secure new business from the ever growing Asian markets as well as to support the Hong Kong office with sales and marketing material.

"Having grown up in China, I feel that I can bring a lot of my knowledge and experience about Asian markets and culture which can be invaluable when closing a deal. It is also an advantage that I am fluent in Mandarin and English.

"I really enjoy coming into the office everyday! It’s a very friendly environment and I consider myself privileged that I am able to have a job in such a wonderful organisation, doing something I love.

"Sydney is a great destination. I think the friendly people are a major draw card and, of course, our beautiful beaches as well."
