BESydney's relationship to other organisations

Does BESydney partner with any organisations?

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) is proud to partner with a number of major orgnisations and industry bodies. Find out more about our major partners and industry bodies.

Is BESydney the Sydney Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (SCVB)?

Actually, yes. Business Events Sydney is the new name of the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau. We haven’t changed our mission or our activities, just our name. We felt that Business Events Sydney better reflected what we do: promote Sydney (and New South Wales) as a premium business events destination.

Are you the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre?

No. The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is a venue for conferences, exhibitions and special events, located in Darling Harbour. The Centre is a stakeholder of Business Events Sydney, and since it is the biggest convention centre in Australia, many of the events that BESydney bids for end up using the Centre’s facilities.

How do you relate to Conventions Australia?

Conventions Australia is a partnership of leading Australian convention centres and bureaux, including Business Events Sydney. All Conventions Australia partners are active in the international market, especially with international association conventions, and we work together to bring business events to Australia.

What’s the difference between you and Destination New South Wales?

Destination New South Wales aims to bring all kinds of events to Sydney and NSW: they could be cultural events, sporting events, leisure events, entertainment events or any others. Business Events Sydney focuses exclusively on business events, in particular international conferences and incentives. Both organisations work closely together.

How do you relate to Business Events Australia?

Business Events Australia (BEA) is a business unit within Tourism Australia, charged with promoting and marketing Australia as a desirable business events destination. Business Events Australia and Business Events Sydney are separate entities, but we work quite closely together to achieve their goals.

How do you relate to Tourism Australia and Destination New South Wales?

Both Tourism Australia and Destination NSW promote Australia and NSW as a leisure tourism destination. We have similar objectives - to show our city, our State and our country to their best advantage. However, at Business Events Sydney, we focus entirely on business events, conferences, meetings, incentives conventions and business tourism as opposed to general tourism. And we restrict our scope to Sydney and NSW.
