New events calendar a powerful tool
If you ever needed proof that Sydney is one of the most vibrant and creative places to visit in the world, now you have it. The State's new 'Master Events Calendar' showcases a world-class program for Sydney and New South Wales.
John O'Neill AO, Chairman of calendar creator Events New South Wales, says "this recurring Master Events Calendar will deliver large scale, year-in, year-out economic, marketing and community benefits" and he expects the program to provide economic benefits valued at over $500 million per year to the State's economy.
The calendar unites new and existing events into three 'festival seasons' of winter, spring and summer. At BESydney, we see this as an excellent platform from which to leverage more opportunities to attract business events to Sydney.
Using the calendar, we are now targeting corporate event and incentive organisations, inviting them to build their events around some of the more stand-out festivals and celebrations scheduled for Sydney.
"We now have a comprehensive schedule of public events, around which we can create yet further opportunities to attract business events to Sydney," says BESydney General Manager Marketing Lyn Lewis-Smith.
In the past year, Sydney won 71% of its event bids, an impressive success-rate that Lyn said was "proof of Sydney's powerful appeal and the professionalism of our events industry."
But, "In a climate of increasing competition from interstate and overseas, we plan to fully exploit Sydney's extraordinary assets," she promised. And in this ambition, the Master Events Calendar will become a powerful tool.
