A no-brainer: Sydney to play host to the 17th International Conference on Neural Information Processing

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) is delighted to announce today Sydney has won the right to host the 17th International Conference on Neural Information Processing (ICONIP) in 2010.

As the organisation responsible for promoting Sydney as a business events destination, identifying new opportunities and bringing these events to Sydney, BESydney secured the win ahead of Dubai.

ICONIP will bring researchers, scientists, students, educators, engineers and industry professionals from all over the globe to Sydney to discuss and exchange the latest ideas and trends in the field of neural information processing – a field which explores how human brains process, structure and  memorise information.

The conference is expected to attract 350 delegates over 4 days, bringing an estimated $1.2 million to the local economy.

"Sydney’s world class conference facilities and location in the Asia Pacific have made Sydney the preferred host city for ICONIP," said Mr Jon Hutchison AM, Chief Executive Officer of BESydney.

The prestigious event is sponsored by the Asia Pacific Neural Network Assembly (APNNA). Founded in Japan in 1993, APNNA works to promote a more active interaction of researchers, scientists, and industry professionals who are working in the Neural Network and related fields in the Asia Pacific region.

The bid to host the Congress was led by Professor Tom Gedeon from the Australian National University Canberra and won in conjunction with BESydney.
