Many prominent leaders in their profession are well connected internationally and are passionate about the promotion of Sydney to the rest of the world. The Business Events Sydney Ambassador Program taps into this energy by providing opportunities to promote Sydney internationally as a destination for business events such as conferences, congresses, conventions, exhibitions, general assemblies, incentives, meetings, motivational experiences and recognition events.


Ambassadors are thought leaders in their field, recognised for their professional achievements, acknowledged for their contributions and enthusiastic in their support for Sydney as an events destination. They are drawn from professional bodies, government and corporations representing key industries such as medicine, science, innovation and commerce.


What do Ambassadors do?


The specific role varies in light of personal knowledge, area of expertise and contacts. Much of the role is to do with opening doors and introducing business opportunities.


This could include:

  • Providing leads on potential business opportunities
  • Providing access to international CEOs and decision makers
  • Making a presentation at international business events
  • Intelligence gathering
  • Providing input to bid preparation
  • Liaison with potential host associations
  • Providing insight on factors that may sway bids to Sydney
  • Participation in promotional activities at trade shows and media conferences.
  • Inclusion in news releases relating to bid wins.
